          I agree with this "part-heartedly" (part since I think the viewers should take it upon themselves to interpret and parse through possible meanings). But there are sometimes when the artist is not understood and should defend their piece amidst an onslaught of commentary. I sometimes the audience doesn't have the tools to decipher the puzzle… perhaps the artist should take that into consideration… perhaps that was the purpose in the first place.

*Eyes fade, lay down the active thoughts, breathe...

All things fade to black as I deconstruct myself that I may reconstruct myself,

All I am there but am no longer distinguishable amongst all there is around me.

*breathe...

There is a whirl of the particles in my place.

They spin in a circle about my origin.

After the first cycle, they whir more vigorously.

Arcanely, they take up more space now as if they've multiplied.

I am more than just me now,

Get over it

          Many of the stereotypes around artists include re that they do their work alone and their genius shines behind closed doors only for the public to see the final image. This is breaking down as the author mentioned. We’re taught art in school (university) in groups, we create in cohorts. Pieces are subject to review by our peers and rivals. The finished product is increasingly collaborative.

“I don’t know what public are is, really…Public art is something else I’m not sure it’s art. I think it’s about a social agenda.” Chris Burden.

That’s interesting to say the least. When I think about public art, I think it is art that would better the community by inciting discussion or giving inspiration. After reading that. I paused and thought about the criteria that the particular work has to meet. Its purpose weather it would edify of bring down. All of the criteria are subjective to what the current political scene believes is socially acceptable. Furthermore, the pieces that they would support tend to reflect the agenda they are trying to push or the look they want to have. It’s similar to Mitt Romney saying that he likes that too and that he supports it, to everything.

Debatable;

I think we should judge new art by old standards to see how we are progressing. If the old standards still apply, are the standards good ones to keep or are they thing s that we want to move away from? I think there are advantages in knowing some of the old standards to help push through. New art in the sense that there is something new about the way we perceive art  such as the touch Sanitation project have meaning in another sense that previous styles like sketching don’t necessarily have. I think we should keep exploring new media and continue innovating in that sense. The innovations can lead to new standards that can lead the society to another level of thinking.

Scarcity

How do we define scarcity of resources? What about unexplored reservoirs and new alternate sources which would be identified later? Now, do you still believe in scarcity?

I think scarcity of resources is simply less than desired amounts of natural resources.

I'm not sure if unexplored reservoirs would redefine that as we will still want to consume it and the limiting factor is with the resource and driven by us. Alternative sources have the same rules. Sure, you can get that much more energy from 10g of uranium vs 10g coal (or carbon (depending on if you want to stick with pure elements)). The fact-of-the-matter is that they are both non-renewable. Our demands for energy have made them scarce resources.

I do believe in scarcity as long as there's an unreasonably high (numerical) demand for the supply (which cannot renew itself at an efficient pace).

e.g. (for community)

We can start simply by looking at where we live, before that, the fact that we live somewhere. [but before I digress,]

The place we live can be considered a community. It fit's the previously ascribed definition as a place where a collaborative of people communicate. At home* that looks a certain way.

e.g.
       waking up in the morning and talking about your dreams over a mouthful of toothpaste foam.
       a sibling or other family member coming into your room when you're quietly enjoying a book
       venting after  a long day at work ( I don't suggest doing this too often because it ends up sounding like you complaining (I've been on the receiving side of hes a lot (as well as the delivering side( it's not too fun on the receiving side)))
       a long non-awkward pause at the dinner table when the participating people decided that the time for talking is over and it's time to munch some foodies**

As we well know and can document, as we all could do if we felt like it, We are all part of some sort of community or another.

scholar community
sports community
style community
music community
work community

Community is a couple of things in particular then, what is shared amongst a group and how the message was conveyed.

*home, not where the heart is but where you live when you're not in school
**foodies, a term for food often used when the person accepts food into their life as a personal emotional act ( this is a "Shilvian"*** definition)
***Shilvian, of and/or relating to Shilvio which is the idea of Myself (yeah, I went there (deep stuff))

Community

Community may not be openly debated as hotly as other topics such as time space or matter. It may not move masses to assume The Thinker's pensive position as a talk on dimensions. However, this conversation does ring on whenever the word is uttered (or even implied) and then given pause.
